A two-week workshop that took place at EASA – European Architecture Students Assembly. Together with participants, we circled around the notion of electricity. Inspired by David Lynch's etching Electricity in hand and home, we divided the workshop to three parts – starting from the perspective of Electricity in hand, we explored our dependence on smartphones and their quality of being hyper-objects. Then we moved on to Electricity in home, exploring electric devices through a feminist perspective – their appearance that made domestic labour easier, but didn't solve the gender inequality issue. The last section was Electricity away where we explored the infrastructure itself – power lines stretching through Savonlinna. Each day of the workshop was divided to a text analysis part and the task part, aligned with the three perspectives. The workshop was finalised by a group exhibition in the end of the event, set up in a former laundry room filled with old washing machines.
